The project analyses the significance of national days as the spaces in which citizens participate for a variety of reasons.

Given the increasing focus on Australia Day (26 January), the project investigates the opinions and attitudes of Muslim and non-Muslim respondents on the significance, celebration and value of the day.



  • Literature review on significance of national days for communities around the world has commenced.
  • Ethics proposal for qualitative and quantitative survey pending.
