Until recently Kim Beazley was Leader of the Opposition as leader of the Australian Labor Party.

In his long parliamentary career he held a number of ministerial portfolios impacting directly on Australia’s international interests, including Aviation & Defence, and served for many years on the Joint Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade. He is a founding member of the Australia-USA Leadership Dialogue.

Now, from the back bench, he has time to reflect on Australia’s foreign policy interests in today’s world and looks forward to sharing some of his ideas on the international challenges facing us and the path Australia might follow.

Kim Beazley was elected for the federal seat of Swan in 1980 until 1993 and won the seat of Brand, his current seat, in 1994.
