UPDATE: The conference was eventually only
scheduled for one day. Apologies for any inconvenience.
The Centre for Muslim States and Societies hosted an
international conference on assessing the role of Islamic groups
at the University of Western Australia on 25 February 2006.
A number of Muslim groups have attracted attention since 11
September. This raises questions about how Muslims organise
themselves. This conference will look at different ways in which
Islamic groups operate at national, regional and international
levels. The main aim of the conference is to develop a typology
of Islamic Groups operating at the regional and global level with
a view to assessing their implications for security in the short
and long term.
