Cost: $40 per head $25 per head (concessions) Hon. Alexander Downer has been at the forefront of Australian efforts to engage in Interfaith Dialogue at national and international level. He has taken active measures to encourage interaction between groups in Australia and Muslim states in the region. His lecture at the luncheon meeting is the first in the series on Islam, Muslims and Australia: Domestic and International Perspectives undertaken by the Centre for Muslim States and Societies. The project looks at the views and ideas emerging about Muslims and Islam in Australia, their implications for Australian and international security, and policy alternatives available for building harmony at local and international level. During 2006-2007, the Centre will invite a number of national and international speakers and experts to deal with these issues.
