Tethyan Copper ScholarshipThe Tethyan Copper Scholarship is open to Pakistani graduates, particularly those from universities in Baluchistan, who intend to conduct research at The University of Western Australia into political, social and cultural developments in Pakistan.
The scholarship has been donated by the Tethyan Copper Company Limited which has been operating in Balochistan for several years. Tethyan Copper Company Limited (TCC) is engaged in the exploration, evaluation and development of mineral resources. The Company operates principally within the geographical areas of Australia and Pakistan. TCC is dedicated to the exploration and development of the copper and gold resources at Reko Diq in the Baluchistan province of Pakistan. The Company is based in Perth, Australia, with a regional head office in Islamabad and sub-offices in Karachi, Quetta and Nok Kundi. The Reko Diq project area is part of the Tethyan Magmatic Arc, which extends from Pakistan through Iran into Turkey.
Interested in playing a part in promoting educational opportunities for Pakistanis from Balochistan, Tethyan has agreed to fund one PhD scholarship tenable immediately. The purpose of the scholarship is to enable a Pakistani graduate, preferably from a university in Baluchistan, to undertake research at The University of Western Australia into political, social and cultural development in Pakistan leading to the degree of Doctor of Philosophy. Equally committed to the process of internationalization, the University of Western Australia will cover the tuition fee for the successful applicant.
